In her role she will link up with head sports therapist Mick O’Boyle

Larne have added to their backroom staff with the appointment of Kirsty Spiers as sports nutritionist.

Spiers has joined the Inver Park club as part of a placement from the Ulster University.

She will link up with head sports therapist Mick O’Boyle.

“I am very excited to be working alongside Mick and the rest of the first team as part of my placement,” Spiers told Larne’s website.

“I hope to be working in the sports and athletic industry for my career in the future and I am extremely grateful to have been given this massive opportunity within the club as it will really help me develop the skills and knowledge I need after I graduate. I’m looking forward to getting started with all the players and gaining experience from Mick and his team.”

O’Boyle believes Spiers’s knowledge and expertise will “bring that extra level of athleticism” to Larne’s squad.

He said: “Firstly, I would like to welcome Kirsty to the club. Her knowledge and expertise will be a promising addition to the current performance staff.

“Nutrition is an element that will bring that extra level of athleticism to help improve the current standards within our senior squad, which will hopefully give us the edge in the upcoming season.

“It is great to see local students joining the team and utilising the platform on their doorstep.
